The Controversial Confusion Around the Evangelist, Missionary, and Apostle

The Controversial Confusion Around the Evangelist, Missionary, and Apostle

By Apostle Ricardo Butler

I bring you the final definition in the series of some of my favorite definitions of the five fold ministry. Most of them have come from Apostle Wolfgang Simson and his The House Church Book.

In this message we going to switch it up a bit, because there seems to be a confusion about the functions or differences between an Evangelist, a Missionary, and an Apostle. These three roles are not the same thing, and one of them is not even part of the five fold ministry!

Then there is the other extreme that all our reach efforts are actually Evangelistically lead instead of Apostolically and Prophetically spearheaded. If anything the Evangelist aids in what God has set first and second on the Chief Cornerstone—Christ.

So let’s see what’s going on in all this mess.

I Wish a Christian Would Take Me to His or Her Church

I Wish a Christian Would Take Me to His or Her Church

I was recommended a podcast to listen to by a business brother of mine in Christ named Amos Johnson Jr. over there at the Church for Entrepreneurs.

I think the podcast had something to do with business, but I was interested in some other things that I came across on the website. There was a particular article that caught my attention called, “Seven Common Comments Non-Christians Make about Christians” by Thom Rainer. He is the president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources.

This is actually part 7 of 7. You can read the others in the series at:

Apostle Tim Early

“And He [Jesus] gave some Apostles some, Prophets; and some, Evangelists; and some, Pastors and Teachers; FOR THE PERFECTING [Gk: ‘completing, maturing, building together’] OF THE SAINTS, FOR THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY [to produce after kind and likeness more five fold ministers/ministries], FOR THE EDIFYING [Gk: ‘building up’] OF THE BODY OF CHRIST [the Spiritual Temple of God]. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful [Apostolic], and multiply [Prophetic], and replenish the earth [Evangelistic], and subdue it [Pastoral]: and have dominion over [Teaching] … every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Ephesians 4:11-12, Genesis 1:26-28).

Let’s begin by highlighting a new selection of principles for each commissioning charge of Genesis 1:28. With each shall be a different term to describe something God is accomplishing through us in the Spirit of the Ascension Ministries – Ephesians 4:11.

Definitions shall follow each aspect of the 5-fold charge of Genesis 1:28. So, let’s begin our discovery. Blessings!

The Apostolic Dominion Mandate of Genesis 1:28 and Ephesians 4:11 By Apostle Tim Early

Apostle Tim Early

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let him have dominion … And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and let them have DOMINION …” (Genesis 1:26, 28).

The Dominion Mandate is the 1st Great Commission in the scripture. It is God’s agenda for earth and the nations that spring out of it. It is the five-fold charge of Adam and correlates with the five-fold ascension ministries of Ephesians 4:11-13, “the perfecting, equipping, and maturing of the saints for the work of the ministry, the edification of the body of Christ …”

But before we go there, let us take a brief look at the characteristics and meaning of God’s five-fold charge to Adam, as we find our purpose and destiny through dominion.

  1. Be fruitful to bear fruit, to bring forth – John 15:16; Matthew 13; Isaiah 5:1
  2. To Multiply to increase with abundance – Isaiah 9:7; John 3:30
  3. Replenish the earth to fill, be full, and accomplish – Isaiah 6:3; Eph.1: 23
  4. To Subdue conquer, bring into subjection – Romans 8:37; 1st John 5:4
  5. To have Dominion tread down, subjugate – 1st John 4:17

Here, every purpose, calling, vision, gifting, potential, and destiny of the Lord in you is defined in these characteristics of the Kingdom. Whether you are in the ministry of helps, the ascension ministries of Ephesians 4:11, or functioning in the manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, it all flows out of what man has been originally given for.

Five Fold Ministry Truths That No One Talks About Pt 3

By Apostle Ricardo Butler

As we finally come to a close to our 3 part series, we come to the last four illustrations, parables, or word pictures that Jesus speaks about that all five fold ministry leaders can learn from.

The whole goal was to find out how all of the five fold ministry gifts function differently but as a team concerning each word picture.

Again here are the 12 word pictures:

  1. Father and Child (what most call Father/Son)
  2. Husband and Wife
  3. Head and Body
  4. Vine and Branches
  5. Kings and Citizens
  6. Potter and Clay
  7. Vine-dresser and Vineyard
  8. Captain and Army
  9. Creator and Creature
  10. Prophet and People
  11. Shepherd and Sheep
  12. Priests and Worshipers

Today we will be talking about the last four word pictures. You can check out part 1 and 2 by clicking the title/links below.

Let’s conclude our study!

Five Fold Ministry Truths That No One Talks About Pt. 1

Five Fold Ministry Truths That No One Talks About Pt. 1

By Apostle Ricardo Butler

I’ve always wanted to know how the Five Fold Ministry functions according to certain parables that Christ gave concerning Himself and the Church or God the Father and the children of God.

There are many illustrations that are given and the Apostle Paul even shows how he functions as an apostle in those illustrations such:

  • The church is a family
  • The church is a field
  • The church is a building

I generally hear these three the most, but what about the other many parables throughout the Scriptures that no one talks about concerning the function of the five fold ministry? I got these word pictures courtesy of the John Maxwell Leadership Bible (NKJV) from the section titled, “New Testament Pictures of a Leader”.

In this 4 part series we will discuss how the five fold ministry functions in these parables of relationships:
