Developing Others More than Self Promotion
By Apostle Ricardo Butler
A Question Asked for Leaders
Months ago, I was doing some research on social media concerning specific needs within the church of God when talking about leadership issues and problems.
So I put out this question to only apostolic leaders and apostolic ministers.
“What are some of the leadership needs that you are seeing or facing?”
One of the many answers that came back was to issue of leaders needing to develop others more then self promotion.
Jesus said on one hand,
“My doctrine is not Mine, but His [God’s] that sent Me. If any man will DO His [God’s] will, HE SHALL KNOW OF THE DOCTRINE [Gk: ‘teaching’], whether the doctrine be of God, or whether I speak [preach, teach the doctrine] of myself [whether I am making it up]. He that speaks of himself [or promotes his own self/flesh, ministry, church, or denomination] SEEKS HIS OWN GLORY [Gk: ‘honor, praise, worship’]: but he that seeketh HIS [GOD’S] GLORY that sent him, THE SAME IS TRUE [Gk: ‘not concealing, sincere’], and no unrighteousness is in him.” (John 7:16-18).
Then He said on the other hand,
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are going about the sea and the dry land to make one proselyte, and whenever he may be becoming one, you are making him more than double a son of Gehenna than you are.” (Matthew 23:15, Concordant Literal New Testament).
